Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls

Peanut butter balls are a year-round favorite!

While peanut butterballs are on my Christmas dessert tray every year, the chocolate and peanut butter combo are heavy enough to withstand any time of the year! These sweet and SIMPLE peanut butterballs are delicious, beautiful, and a crowd-pleaser. Let's talk about how to make one of my all-time favorite treats!

Tips for making simple peanut butterballs

It's a simple treat, but I have to admit, dipping balls in chocolate isn't my favorite thing to do! Here I involve my children in the process. They love to help out in the kitchen from time to time, especially when it comes to one of their favorite foods!

Make sure they are cold when you submerge them. This will make the process MUCH easier! The chocolate will harden faster and the peanut butter balls will hold their shape as you dip and pat the excess warm chocolate.

I prefer to use Ghirardelli Melting Wafers for dipping. They melt so smoothly and taste great. You don't have to add a tablespoon of butter or butter to the chocolate to thin it ... it just has a perfect consistency!

BUT if you can't find Ghirardelli waffles, you can certainly use chocolate chips or even almond shells. Since chocolate chips need to be melted, this is where you can add a tablespoon of butter or butter to the chocolate to thin it out a little to make it easier to dip.

You can melt the chocolate in the microwave or in a double boiler in 25-second increments.

If the chocolate thickens too much when you dip it, melt it for a few more seconds until you get the consistency you want.

You can decorate these with sprinkles, sea salt, or just drizzle some extra chocolate over them like I did!

When you dip the ball in the chocolate, make sure to remove as much of the excess chocolate as possible! Then, when you place the dipped ball in the parchment sheet, use a toothpick and drag it around the base of the ball so it doesn't build up at the bottom!
